WRESTLING: Conard no match for No. 10 Southington; Amity defeats Cheshire

WEST HARTFORD — The Southington wrestling team spotted host Conard a 6-0 lead in Wednesday night’s CCC West match.

And then the Blue Knights didn’t yield anything at all.

Sparked by Malik Anderson’s 29-second pin at 170 pounds, Southington won 12 consecutive bouts to ring up a 67-6 rout of the Red Wolves.

The Blue Knights, ranked No. 10 in this week’s Connecticut Wrestling Online poll, chalked up seven pins, three minor decisions and one major. They also pocketed a pair of forfeits.

For the most part, the Knights took care of business quickly. After Anderson set the tone, first-period pinfalls followed from 106-pounder Joe Garofalo (1:29), 126 Jared Mangiafico (1:01), 138 Rosco Cook (0:59) and 145 Josh Howard (0:48).

Aaron Mysatyukow stuck his foe at 220 pounds in 3:23, while Colton Thorpe’s victory at 132 came in 2:55.

In matches that went the distance, Brayden Dandelski notched a 7-3 final at 285, Jake Rivera rang up a 7-2 victory at 113 and Ethan Vitti followed with an 8-4 verdict at 120.

Michael Affum’s 18-6 major at 152 capped the night.

Amity 55, Cheshire 18: Titus Barsczewski (132 pounds), Jake Tierney (138) and Isaiah Fuentes (220) had pins for the Rams (0-8) in the SCC loss to the Spartans in Cheshire.
