AROUND THE HORN: Red Sox announcer Remy to speak in Cromwell

MIDDLETOWN – Former Major League Baseball player and current Boston Red Sox NESN color commentator Jerry Remy will speak at a Special Member Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the Red Lion Hotel in Cromwell.

The event, sponsored by DATTCO and presented by R.J. Julia Booksellers, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Remy recently authored “If These Walls Could Talk: Boston Red Sox.” The book covers Remy’s MLB career as a player and broadcaster. It also details his battles with depression and cancer, and dealing with an unspeakable family tragedy.

I also want to thank R.J. Julia Booksellers, especially Owner Roxanne Coady, and DATTCO, especially President Don Devivo, for making the event possible.”

As a back to school present from the Chamber and DATTCO, all elementary, middle and high school students can attend the event at no cost as long as they are accompanying an adult who is a paid attendee.
