WALLINGFORD — An in-person registration session for the 2023 Wallingford Little League season will be held this Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wallingford Parks & Recreation Department.
Wallingford Little League is open to boys and girls ages 4-13 who live on the East side of Route 15 or attend Holy Trinity School or Heritage Baptist. Non-Wallingford residents who attend Holy Trinity or Heritage Baptist are also eligible.
Registration fees are dictated by age group:
Players born Sept. 1, 2015 to Aug. 31, 2019 (Little League age 4-7): $125.
Players born Sept. 1, 2010 to Aug. 31, 2015 (Little League age 8-12): $150.
Players born Sept. 1, 2009 to Aug. 31, 2010 (Little League age 13, 50/70 Division): $165.
The league does not turn away families facing financial hardships.

Burr signs off as All-New England
NEW HAVEN — For a second straight season, Southern Connecticut State University soccer player Kelsey Burr of Wallingford has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division II All-New England Team.
The team was selected by Division II coaches in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association. Players were first nominated, then voted upon by the coaches.
Burr earned a spot on the Second Team. The Sheehan grad led the Owls with five goals and 13 points in 2022. Her five goals were tied for 10th in the Northeast-10 Conference and her 13 points were 11th.
A grad student, Burr scored in her final game in the Northeast-10 Tournament quarterfinals against Saint Anselm. She scored 12 goals and assisted on six for her SCUS career.
Torres LEC track athlete of the week
WILLIMANTIC — Maloney grad Reynaldo Torres, a sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University, has been named Men’s Rookie Track Athlete of the Week in the Little East Conference.
Competing in his first collegiate meet, Torres finished second in a field of 14 runners in the 800 meters at the William Sutherland III Indoor Track & Field Meet hosted by Southern Connecticut State on the weekend.
The meet featured five Division II schools, plus Division III Eastern.
With a time of 2:02.75, Torres was edged by .07 seconds by winner Charles Driscoll of Assumption University.
Torres ran cross country at Eastern in the fall after transferring from CCSU. Along with running the 800 last weekend, Torres manned the lead leg on ECSU’s 4x400 relay which had a winning time of 3:42.74.
