MERIDEN — Isaiah Thomas scored 12 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Wilcox Tech boys basketball team turned back O’Brien Tech on Tuesday night to earn its first victory of the season.
Thomas connected on nine field goals, including one 3-pointer. He went 3-for-5 from the line.
Isaiah Felix added nine points and Nate DeMaio was good for eight as the Tribe improved to 1-3 and knocked the Condors to 2-4.
Middletown 66, Maloney 36: The Blue Dragons extended an 11-8 lead after the first quarter to 32-18 by halftime in scoring the CCC South-Colonial Division victory in Middletown.
Jonathan Nkonoki put up a game-high 17 points for Middletown (4-1).
Garrison Kunst’s 12 points were the team-high for Maloney (4-3). Jeremiah Williams added nine.
East Haven 35, Lyman Hall 32: The Trojans fell short in a fourth-quarter rally against the Yellowjackets in this SCC crossover in Wallingford.
LH was trailing 29-21 heading into the final frame.
Tyler Voisine led the Trojans (0-5) with 10 points.
Alias Ford finished with 19 and Ian Reynolds rang up 11 for East Haven (1-4).
West Haven 60, Cheshire 56: The Rams fell to 1-3 with the SCC Oronoque setback in West Haven.
Alec Frione connected four times from beyond the arc and finished with a team-high 19 points for the Rams.
Shaan Vatti (15) and Cole Feinauer (13) were also in double figures for Cheshire.Girls basketball
Sheehan 50, Guilford 43: The Titans took control of their SCC Housatonic opener in Guilford by outscoring the Indians 15-4 in the second quarter.
Sheehan’s two Caitlyns — Hunt and Velez — bedeviled the home team. Hunt was a force down low with a season-high 24 points. Velez directed the offense at the point and scored eight points.
Maddi Larkin added nine points as the Titans improved to 5-1 overall.
Guilford fell to 1-4 despite getting double-digit scoring from Elle Petra (12), Sam Leiby (11) and Faith O’Donnell (10).
Daniel Hand 75, Lyman Hall 32: The Tigers rolled over the Trojans in Madison in the SCC Quinnipiac opener for both teams.
Hand (5-2) was paced by Sara Wohlgemuth’s game-high 24 points.
Lyman Hall (2-3) got eight points from both Hailey Bruneau and Brianna Mik. Natalie Panagross contributed six.
Bruneau and Panagrosso had seven rebounds apiece.
Wilbur Cross 53, Cheshire 37: The Rams dropped their SCC Quinnipiac opener to the Governors in Cheshire.
Cross established a 27-19 lead by the break and improved to 5-2 overall.
DeJah Middleton’s game-high 24 points led the way for the winners. Rayne Durant added 14.
Cheshire (2-4) was paced by Ari Perlini’s 15 points. Emma Watkinson drained a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 11.
Berlin 62, Platt 32: The Redcoats hadn’t lost and the Panthers hadn’t won heading into this CCC South-Colonial Division game in Meriden. Berlin made sure that wouldn’t change by racing to a 24-10 lead in the first quarter.
Lyzi Litwinko laid in a game-high 20 points for Berlin (6-0). Ja’lexia West continued her strong play with 17 points for Platt (17).
Wallica Bailey added nine points for the Panthers.
Middletown 54, Maloney 27: The Spartans also fell behind early in their CCC South-Colonial game in Meriden. The visiting Blue Dragons led 20-5 after the first quarter.
Shadae Bushay (15) and DeZiar Rose-Daniels (10) were in double figures for Middletown, which improved to 3-4 overall.
Maloney (1-6) got a team-high 14 points from Liv Aitken. Gracey Massicotte finished with eight points.
