WEDNESDAY SCHOLASTICS: DeCrescenzo lands record vault for LH; Soto scores 21 for Wilcox

NEW HAVEN — Lyman Hall pole vaulter Chance DeCrescenzo set an indoor school record when he cleared 11 feet, 6 inches at this week’s SCC Boys Developmental Meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

The junior won his event by a foot.

Also finishing first at the meet was Cheshire junior sprinter Colin Brown, who captured the 55-meter dash in a personal-best 6.69 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 300 meters in 37.72.

Sheehan’s top performer was Paul Burkett. The senior was second in the 300 with a PR 36.79, third in the long jump with a PR 19-2 and third in the 55 mters in 6.85.

Jelan Kollie placed third for Sheehan in the high jump at 5-6.

Boys basketball

Goodwin Tech 71, Wilcox Tech 40: The Gladiators established a 15-10 lead in the opening eight minutes, built it through the middle frames, then sealed the CTC win on their home court with a 29-14 fourth quarter.

Nazir Russell scored 21 points and Brandon Martinez was good for 19 as Goodwin improved to 2-1.

Wilcox (0-4) got 21 points from Bryant Soto. Efrank San Antonio collected 13.

Fairfield Prep 68, Cheshire 24: Jack Markarian had 12 points for the Rams in Tuesday night’s home loss to the Jesuits. Matt Jeffery added seven.

Cheshire is 0-3, Prep 3-1.

Boys swimming

Amity 99, Lyman Hall 77: Kendrick Lagamao picked up two wins for the Division II Trojans in the SCC crossover loss to Division I Amity at the Orange Community Center.

Lagamao took the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.86 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.37.

He also teamed with his brother, Jerick Lagamao, Alex Sabo and Ryan Christopoulos to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.91).

Lincoln Busa won diving with a score of 122.0.

Lyman Hall fell to 0-2. Amity is unbeaten at 3-0.
