The annual Staat Sangerfest (Song Fest) took place on Sunday, June 26. This special event was hosted by the Meriden Turner Singing Society of Meriden.
Eight singing societies, from various towns in Connecticut and also one society from Boston, Mass., and one from Providence, R.I., arrived early Sunday morning in Meriden.
A total of 230 singers and friends participated at this singing event. Each society was singing three of their favorite German songs, demonstrating their talents.
After singing the National Anthems the event got started. The Meriden Chorus, under the direction of their conductor Ms. Stewart opened the Sangerfest with the song “Music Brought Us Together”.
This event has been very well attended where one could feel one day like being back in the old country. Greeted with great hospitality, and to enjoy good food and drinks. Music for dancing was provided by the “Famous Dianmond Chips”.
The most enjoyable part of the “Sangerfest” is always the Mass Chorus singing with all the singers participating bringing the “Staat Sangerfest” to a close.
