Since the tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks that stripped the sacred lives of too many Americans, we Muslims have unfortunately been the target of blame and persecution. Yet, amid both injustices, our Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, led by the peaceful Khalifa of Islam, chose to respond by the teachings of Holy Quran which encourages working together in goodness and righteousness.
With the help of the American Red Cross, we’ve been investing our blood and the blood of our families and neighbors, to save the precious lives of our compatriots and beyond year after year (13th biannual) in a jihad known as Muslims for Life in loving memory of the innocent victims.
Thus far we’ve collected enough bags to rescue over 100,000 lives! Delivering even one life, in the estimation of the Holy Quran, is akin to saving the whole of mankind.
What more motivation do you need to join our collaborative Blood Drive in the House of Peace Mosque in South Meriden, 410 Main Street, on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.? Sign up at redcrossblood.org to ensure you helped save humanity.
This is how True Islam is winning back the hearts of others through partnership, unbiased service, dignified dialogue, and prayer.

I am a lifelong Democrat and I am ashamed of my party in particular. I am the father of a 28-year-old autistic son. Because of his condition, he cannot speak, read or write. Why has Gov. Malloy and the Democratic-controlled legislature cut millions of dollars from programs that people like my son depend on? Could it be because they literally have no voice? I have a voice and I am using it. It will indeed be a cold day in hell when I vote for Malloy but he is obviously counting on Hillary Clinton for his next job.
I sent a letter to my State Rep. Hilda Santiago about this on June 26 but she is obviously too busy to reply. Maybe she’ll have much more time after she loses in November. One can only hope.
As far as Senator Bartolomeo, who is so upset with CBIA for targeting her after she was so supportive of their causes, she should start worrying more about the fact that she is losing voters like me — and my family because she has lost my vote.
If our “friends” won’t stand up for us, they don’t deserve our votes.

On August 23, I received an invitation in the mail from the Meriden Green, City of Meriden, to attend the grand opening of the downtown park on Friday, September 9 from 5-9 pm. I am not interested in attending and I did wonder if everyone in Meriden received a similar invitation.
I talked to friends who did not receive invitations and decided to check out the RSVP on the invitation at computer address meriden2020.com/meriden-green.
As it should be, the events on Friday and Saturday are open to everyone in Meriden but they are apparently requiring people RSVP or register in advance. I am writing to let people know that is what is going on.
It would be a shame if people innocently presumed everyone was welcome, given the project was funded with taxpayer money and they ended up possibly being turned away.
I do not believe it has been publicized that people should apparently register in advance and I also believe invitations with RSVPs should not have been sent in the first place. The event is either open to all or it is not.
